Our legacy

I have been in a fairly bad mood here lately. I went to 4 different interviews last week, I have been on 2 and 3 interviews with the same company and didn't get the job. That is depressing. Not to mention financially defeating. I need a job.
However, at church last night I was called upon to lead the Prayer Service for our church and after prayer I felt a lot better, To be honest I was starting to doubt and wonder what direction God is taking me in, if any.

It turns out that all the things I have been saying on this blog apply to me too. Doubt, depression, fear, uncertainty, they all vanished in prayer. It is a very valuable tool. When I started praying and talking to God, the God of the Universe, it put things into perspective for me.
He is the God of the UNIVERSE. He has plans and designs that none of us can understand.
I know that our problems are ours and to us they are big, but to God they are of no moment. They matter not one little iota in the grand scheme of things.

We pray for jobs, money, sickness, death, bills, house to sell etc... But what does all of that mean to the Creator of the Universe? He cares about our concerns. He cares about our cares. However in the Grand Design how do our minor situations figure into the Grand Plan?
James 4:1-3KJV

4 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

James tells us why we have prayers unanswered, but we fail to listen because we have only our own interests in mind. We are so self-involved, egocentric that we do not see what matters.

What does matter is what we are doing for our heavenly home not what we have here on this earth.

I was going through the news the other day, as I am wont to do, and I came across an article showing photographs of a by-gone era. A time when they photographed the dead ,after they died, as if they were alive for memories.
It struck me that I knew none of them, none of their legacies, achievements etc... What did they leave behind? What did they do in preparation for when they cross over to the other side? To which side did they cross? Were they saved and in heaven?

That is what matters. That is what we should be striving for. We should work so that we can progress in our efforts for our Heavenly Father. Work for money here on earth should not be all-consuming. It should be a means to an end. That end being to Glorify and Magnify the name of Christ here on Earth. To prepare our way and the way of others to a Heavenly Home.
Praying is a very valuable tool. We should pray for our concerns and our cares and our situations, But we should pray that in these things His Will would be achieved for His Glory and His purpose. Not the furtherance of our wealth, or of our own gain.

Wonderful grace of Jesus greater than all my sin
How shall my tongue describe it, where shall its praise begin
Taking away my burden, setting my spirit free
For the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.

CHORUS
Wonderful the matchless the grace of Jesus
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea
Higher than the mountain, sparkling like a fountain.
All sufficient grace for me for even me
Broader than the scope of my transgressions
Greater far than all my sin and shame.
Oh magnify the precious name of Jesus, praise His name.

VS2
Wonderful grace of Jesus reaching the most defiled
By its transforming power, making him God's dear child
Purchasing peace and heaven for all eternity
And the wonderful grace of Jesus reaches me.
CHORUSWonderful the matchless the grace of Jesus
Deeper than the mighty rolling sea
Higher than the mountain sparkling like a fountain.
All sufficient grace for me for even me
Broader than the. scope of my transgressions
Greater far than all my sin and shame.
Oh magnify the precious name of Jesus, praise His name

This should be our song, this should be our goal, this should be our motto, mantra, rally cry.... The grace and mercy of God that keeps us from Hell. The sacrifice of an Almighty God for His limited creatures.

No matter what we do here it doesn't matter. In a few years I will be gone from this earth and who in 100 years will remember me if Christ tarries? Who will care?
We have whole civilizations gone from the face of the earth and who remembers them? In the last 2000 yrs alone we have lost major cities to ruin and desecration. What used to be magnificence in man's eyes the cities the booming metropolis, the center of the earth in their time, has all faded to dust and ruin, In some cases buried under years of dirt and dust. What does it matter now?

All that will matter after I am gone, my kids, grandkids are gone is what we have done for God. What we shall hear Him say to us on that judgement day. None of this earth, this striving, worrying, working mess we have here matters. All that matters is what we do for Him, for others, for the Kingdom.

Get your head out of this world, and focused on the one to come. Work for the Master, the Lord Jesus Christ. We have a bigger picture to take. One for the memories, posterity, legacy. What we leave behind should meet us on that Golden Shore.
What we leave behind should be A path to The Father for those left behind to follow.
