I feel that we will never have revival in America. We are just too busy with our own lives to take time for Him.
We have committees, we have trustee boards, we have meetings, and we all say we are working towards His Will but nothing ever gets done. Are we truly concerned for His Work? Or are we just trying to look the part?
We can not get people out to church, in fact 2 churches just shut down with in 10 miles of me. all because they can't afford to operate, We can't afford to operate because we have too much to do. Too many things that require our attention. Too many bills to pay, too many credit cards, too many comforts that require our money
Now just down the road from me in Delaware there is a revival going on with 30 and 40 people saved per meeting, Yet here in the area I am in we can not get people out, we can not get people to bother getting the Word out. Why the difference? Why the disparity?
Simple. Complacency.
We are so comfortable and relaxed in our service to God that there is no urgency. There is no sense of - We must serve. People are dying and going to Hell all around us and we are so wrapped in our own little cocoons that we fail to see the lost souls. The helpless people that are feeling lost and overwhelmed and in need of someone to care.
We are so "ok" with our "service" the one hour on Sunday morning that we give, I mean after all 'I get out of bed and grace God with my presence what more do I have to do'.
That's the general reaction of the "christian" today and yes I used quotation marks on purpose. I am really truly starting to doubt the average "christian" in America today.
I am starting to think the average "christian" in America has no sense of who the Holy Spirit truly is. That we must allow Him to work in us and through us. He can do anything He wants He is God, what He wants is us. Wholly committed to His goals, His plans, His purpose,
He can do anything, but we the "christian" can stifle Him. We can quench the fire of the Spirit and all we have to do is nothing, which is exactly what we are doing.
The work we do, the church attendance we give is not what He wants from us. That is what is required.
What He wants is true submission to Him. The emptying of our Will and the filling of His. He wants us to get out of the way and allow Him to work. Allow Him to bring about revival. But we can not. We are so filled with hubris that we refuse to subjugate ourselves, our lives to any one other than ourselves. 'Lord I trust you with my eternal salvation but the day to day stuff you can't handle".
Now of course that is facetious we would never openly say that but based on actions it is exactly what we do every day.
The Holy Spirit is God, He came to earth to fill us, to comfort us, to enable us. Yet we fail to allow Him to achieve that purpose.
Acts 1:8 KJV
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 2:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
2 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Christ Himself told us of the coming of the Holy Spirit. Yet we live as if He is not here. We live as if He is not actually wanting to do anything through us. Do you know the Holy Spirit? More importantly does He know you? He came among us to empower us, to comfort us, to be closer than a brother.
Acts 2:1-6 King James Version (KJV)
2 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

The Holy Spirit has arrived on the scene. He gave them the power to talk to men in foreign languages they didn't know in order to communicate the Gospel. To spread the Word.
The Holy Spirit is all about the Will of God and that Will is that none should perish but that all would come to repentance
1 John 2:20 KJV
.20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
We have an unction, that is a calling, a drive, a mission, an inner working of the Spirit. John the Apostle, the Beloved of Christ, the Revelator tells us that we are imbued with the Holy Spirit upon our day of Salvation. We have the same Spirit that was in Paul, Peter, John, and James. They walked with Christ, talked with Christ, they knew Him intimately and they testify to us that His Words are real and true if we but reach out and believe.
God is no respecter of persons, He gave them the Spirit and that same Spirit is available to us Today. Yet we fail to access Him, We fail to accommodate Him, We FAIL Him.
How do we access, activate the Spirit in us?
Luke11:9-13 KJV
That's it. That's the answer.
ASK. Seek. Pray.
That's how we activate the Holy Spirit.
That is how we tap into the mightiest force on this earth - The Power of God.
Stop playing at church.
Stop thinking you are doing all you can.
Stop the silly argument that you are too busy.
Stop being a "christian" and be a Christ follower.
Stop the foolishness, and the act.
Start praying for Him to work in you, through you.
Be an Elisha and ask for a DOUBLE portion of the Spirit. Ask for twice the Spirit.
Be all that you can be through the Power of God, not of yourself.
For we can do nothing through ourselves but all things we can do in Christ to those that are called according to His Purpose.
Ask Him your role in His purpose, in His plan. Let go of the daily things that weigh us down here on this earth. Yes we must live among them. Yes we must do our duty here to those God has put us in charge of.
However, we must be about our Father's business. Nothing else should interfere with that.
Stop playing.
Stop letting satan get in the way.
Stop letting depression, or doubt win.
Pray, seek and ask for Him to reveal to you what you are to do.
Pray that you may be filled with the Spirit:
For His Glory.
For His Purpose.
For His Will.
For His Kingdom.
That is all that matters.
