Have you ever had someone in your life who was God's representative do something that completely betrayed you? Have you ever had the person you put on a pedestal fall? Have you ever been so hurt by those you trust that you turn from God and forget He is the basis of our Christian faith? He never wavers although his envoy may.
This is a terrible situation to find yourself in but do not remove your eyes from God. He is infallible. He never wavers or changes. We do.
Peter the apostle denied our Lord three times.
David the man after God's own heart sinned and caused strife and enmity in his family for generations.
Moses in anger struck the rock in sin after being told to speak to it.
Abraham lied about Sarah his wife fearing man and failing to trust God.
Are we better than these? no.
All men are subject to sin. All men fall to temptation.
Their sin can cause us to sin. to lose hope, faith, and sight of our God.
Our sin therefore is in our reaction to their sin. We will be affected not by them but by our actions and reactions.
Don't get me wrong, we may be affected personally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually by their actions. That is on them. It is our reaction that defines us and our faith.
one man in the Bible was tested by Satan, This testing was allowed by God and the man never, ever took his eyes off of God. This man had all taken from him except his life and his wife. God extolled the virtue of Job and Satan was fairly cynical of this. Satan's point was that Job was so just only because God had blessed Job. Satan could not see Job's heart. Therefore he felt Job would cave when all his possessions were taken from him. Job did not. Then satan at God's allowance took Job's health. In all of this Job never blamed God.
Job did question God. Job did bemoan his troubles. But he never took his eyes off our God.
That is the point where we all have to decide what our reactions are going to be.
Jesus is still the same yesterday today and forever. He has not moved. He is still perfect. He is still God of all creation.
Those who sinned and betrayed their positions of trust shall give answer one day for what they did, we shall give answer one day as to how we reacted. We are to forgive, and continue on. Even as God has forgiven us.
Mark 4:36-41
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
The apostles were scared and fearful, and I would think in this instance it was only natural. But why was Christ asleep? Because He knew that no harm would befall them. He knew His time was not yet come and that the apostles in His care were safe. He knew.
He is the same God today who knows our fears, who wants to calm our troubles if we will let Him. This does not mean we won't go through troubles and trials. It means He knows what we are going through. He knows the things we will face.

Turn your eyes on the finished work of the cross. No matter what happens around you, to you, maintain the sight of God not man.
He is faithful. Can the same be said of us?
