A question was put to the church by our pastor tonight, and in my estimation it was a fairly relevant one.
If You were to go on trial for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you?
I must say here and now that this was a stop, think, and consider question for me. Would anyone know?
2 Corinthians 6:16-18
King James Version (KJV)
16 And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
Have we come out from among them? Does our light so shine among men? Or are we a mere step away from the world and not able to be distinguished from them?
2 Corinthians 5:17
King James Version (KJV)
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
When we receive Christ we ask Him to save us and forgive our sins, We turn from our sins and repent. We are to grow the new nature and starve the old nature, weaken it, and let it die. We are to let Christ live in and through us.
There was a line I heard once, " the world corrupts the church far faster than the church can change the world". I have to agree with that line. We want to keep things the same as they were before. We want to live like the world Monday through Saturday then on Sunday we want to be all pious and spiritual. We compromise with the world and lose that fellowship with the Lord. We forget that even the slightest toe hold that we give to the world and satan corrupts us and pulls us that little bit closer to the darkness and farther away from Christ.
Do we witness? Do we keep our language clean? Do we study to show ourselves approved? Do we put on the whole armor of God?
If we fail to do this remember this one thing: Anyone we do not witness to may very well go to Hell and we were the lifeline set in place to tell them of our God and His Son Jesus, the lamb who takes away the sins of the world. We may have blood on our hands for not telling them the same as we would if we caused their death physically, the only difference is that the spiritual death we are condemning them to is eternal.
Have you come out from among them? Are you separate? Are you living as if Christ was coming back today and you are afraid of being ashamed in front of Him? Or are you living as if He is never coming back and are afraid of being ashamed in front of your friends, co-workers, or family?
Luke 9:23-26
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
26 For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels
Christ died for us, Christ shed His Holy perfect blood for us, and was buried, and on the third day rose again. How often do we put Him right back on that cross and let Him die as we spit on Him afraid to stand and speak and live for Him?
Come out today, live for Him. Tell the world of Him. Pray for your unsaved family and friends, but then be the light they need to get to Christ. Set a shining example for Him on the hill so others can see who we are, what we are, and then they may even want what we have, instead of us being like the world.
Is it a secret that you are a Christian or could you be convicted based on the evidence at hand?
