We were warned way back in the beginning by Christ that in the end times there will be false teachers. Those who come in the name of Christ but do not know Christ. We are in that kind of time now. We have faith healers selling out coliseums, we have the mega-churches of the prosperity theology crowd, and we have the God is love and we all are ok crowd as well.
Matthew 7:20-29 KJV
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.
28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:
29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Christ clearly tells us how these shall come among His people and say they are of Him, When He actually has no knowledge of them in His family. Christ was a very aggressive teacher and always vigilant against those who were the "religious" leaders of the day. They had corrupted the teachings and the rituals of their religion and made is grievous to bear. Salvation is very simple and easy: Accept Christ. That's it.
Yet we constantly have people who seem to want to make it harder than that. They want to add their own little codex to it.
Or we have those who want to be held up as more pious and righteous than the rest of us. They are the ones who always seem to be screaming look at me I am good! when we know that the true mark of good and Godly is in the act not in the person performing the act.
Matthew 6:16-18 KJV
16 Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;
18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
When you do anything tithe, pray, fast, serve, or whatsoever your hand finds to do, then do it as unto God in secret. When I tithe I always face the envelope down so no one sees how much or little I tithe. when you pray do it earnestly from the heart and not a made up practiced prayer for the adoring eyes of the congregation.
As for the faith healers and prosperity theology preachers I have one thing to say: False Prophets!
Christ was always broke on this earth, He was more worried about the heavenly reward. Are we better than Christ? I think not. Peter, Paul, etc were broke. Paul worked as a tentmaker to make ends meet. Peter was a fisherman. King David the man after God's own heart was on the run a fugitive, broke and eating the showbread from the temple!
Paul had an infirmity that God would not heal, Timothy had an issue with his stomach God didn't heal. Are we better than they? Christ healed a blind man who was blind for no reason other than to be used to glorify God our Father.
We are not on this earth for riches or glory. We are here to serve and glorify God. If you are listening to a preacher who says God wants you rich -- Walk away they are about to empty your wallet to make themselves rich. God wants you rich alright, Rich in His mercy and Grace. If we were all rich and prosperous what need would we have of God? Is that resting in His arms, leaning on His goodness? No that would lead to us resting on our laurels.
If you have money and God has blessed you with abundance then Thank Him for it and use it to further His will. Tithe to your local church, Support missionaries spreading the Word of God.
Matthew 6:33-34
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
Christ Himself tells us of the way to live and be happy, The furtherance of God's will. That's why we are here. That's how we achieve happiness. We can only be happy ,truly happy, when we surrender ourselves fully to His will. Whether He wants us Rich or poor, sick or healthy, if we are where He wants us then we shall be happy. He will see to that. That is His promise. Not that life will be a rose garden, but merely a stepping stone to heaven. Everything we do or do not do should be for our heavenly reward.
Stop listening to the false prophets and teachers. If they deviate from the Word of God do not listen one moment longer. If they tell you God is all good and love and wants us all to be fat healthy and wealthy then walk away. If they say God doesn't want you sick or ill or infirm then RUN away These types are out for their own welfare not yours.
. Our God is a just God. He is also a God who will spank His children, He will bring judgment on people who deserve it. Perhaps the closest I can get to as an example of God as our Father is as a father myself. I love my kids to distraction but there are times they need to be guided, to know they are wrong. I will help them however I can but they will make mistakes they shall have to pay for.. Our Father is the same way. He wants us to be good, but when we do make a mistake we have to pay for it. When we make a choice outside of His will then we have to suffer the consequences.
When listening to anyone, myself included, always try the words you are hearing or reading against the Word of God.
