Who do we serve?
Where do we serve?
When do we serve?
Relevant questions, food for thought definitely. But are they the right questions? are they the thought provoking "meditate upon things" questions?
Probably not. Mainly because we are so busy seeing who can help us that we often forget to see who we can help. Or we see an opportunity to help that will get us something (recognition, glory, praise etc).
Mark 12:41-43KJV
41 And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
42 And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.
43 And he called [unto him] his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:
How many tithes are given because of the hundredfold promise of God instead of its what Gods Word Instructed us to do? God doesn't need our money. He needs our willingness to give, serve, worship and praise. He wants us to give when we CAN'T afford too not when we can. Take His money and put it aside FIRST.
Malachi 3:10 KJV
10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.
We should have an eye to our service for the Lord always seeking the chance to do Right and glorify our Father and His Will.
Matthew 11:30 |
Now I know you are going to ask me Why did I only highlight the money part of our service? Well the reason for this is simple. That is one of the hardest parts of our life to give up. Our money. Here in America we have become so ingrained in the almighty dollar we have forgotten our Almighty God.
So the simplest way to start serving is to always begin at the hardest point. It is a discipline that must be practiced learned and followed up on. When you get your paycheck. automatically set aside at least 10%. First and foremost set that to the side for your tithe. Once you start thinking of that 10% gone, like your taxes withheld, it will become an afterthought. To start serving begins with babysteps and taking the first step. Once we make it a habit we will be able to start growing our area of Service.
Tithe not just your money. Your time also. There are 168 hrs. in a week 10% is 1.7 hrs of service per week. Now ,in my personal opinion, this does not count the church services we attend for our benefit. Visit the widows, feed the hungry, I am sure your church has ways to serve if you but ask....
Once we start disciplining ourselves in our thinking we will make it a habit. Once we make it a habit it will become a way of thought. Once we do it without thinking then We have a chance to turn this country around. Prayer Tithe Service= revival in our hearts. This is how we start our country's turn around. One person can make a difference.
All Great changes must start with one: Thing, person, or action. When we make it a habit we shall be an influence for Our God and a furtherance for HIS Will.
Remember the old adage the greatest ability is AVAILABILITY.
