Save Me

Last night I was laying in bed and I was struck by this thought, How de we know. Of course I know the answer how we know but it was thrown at me to share a discourse on this and see if I can lay my thoughts out and possibly understand and explain how we know that we know that we are saved.

1 John 5:11-13KJV
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

John the apostle was big on knowing and bearing record of Christ and His love for us. John was the one whom Christ Loved.
John 3:16KJV

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Now I just said that Christ loved us and then the bible verse I posted immediately following said God loved the world. Why the two different names? In some cases folks don't believe in Christ's divinity. Some want to say he was a good man, a prophet, a teacher, but NOT the Son of God. Of course this is a falsehood. We know the Holy Scriptures are true. God's word is inviolate and True.



John 1:1-4

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Christ endured suffering torture and shame. Here was the man (God Incarnate) that just a week before the entire population of Jerusalem was welcoming to their town with hosannas. 1 week later He is being hung naked between 2 thieves. Why? For you and me and our Salvation. He gave us a salvation from our sins, yet he had never known sin. He gave us access to God the Father even though we ,in the garden of Eden, gave up that access.

John Chapter 3:13-17KJV

13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.


Now we have the opportunity to call on the name of Jesus. To regain that access, to have the salvation He provided, and to know through searching the Holy Scriptures that we are saved from that eternal damnation that is called Hell.

So we know calling on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. We know God can not lies. We know that whosoever applies to ALL

Romans 10:13
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

We also know that in John 10:28 and 29 Christ has given us the assurance of salvation eternally and completely. We are in the hand of the Father Who can take us out?

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

30 I and my Father are one.

This is how we know that we know. Because Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so. Yes a children's song with an enormous truth. Once we call on Him He accepts us we repent turn from sin and He is ours and we are HIS. We have HIS Word on it.
