Rejoice
Psa 145:1 David's Psalm of praise. I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.
Psa 145:2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.
David was very effusive in his praise of God, he did it out in the open, behind close doors, in his writings, for all of posterity to read. David was a man of passion and he loved God. He was so concerned about God living in a tent when he, David, dwelt in a house of cedars. He loved God.
He was a man after God's own heart, God even said so.
Solomon prayed at the Temple dedication and fire came from heaven and the Glory of the Lord filled the Temple.
2Ch 7:1 Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.
2Ch 7:2 And the priests could not enter into the house of the LORD, because the glory of the LORD had filled the LORD'S house.
2Ch 7:3 And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
The Glory of the Lord filled the Lord's house. What a testimony. The people praised Him for His goodness for they had seen His Glory.
In the New Testament they sang and praised facing certain persecution in the Acts but they prayed and praised so boldly they shook the jail cells open.
Act 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.
Act 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.
Solomon prayed, the Glory of the Lord filled His house for the Temple was done, and the people praised Him, Paul and Silas sang praises and prayed and all the prisoners heard them.
Do you see what happened? Out in the open, in front of people they prayed and praised.
I think we need to do a little more praising in our lives. We have it better than anyone in History has ever had it and yet we praise the God from whom all blessings flow less and less.
We need more open praise services, not just for us, not just for God, but for those listening that they might hear and see what God is doing in the lives of His people.
I have said it time and again, we need to share with the believers we know not just the prayer requests, the trials and troubles, but the praises that our Awesome God has wrought. There is so much to be thankful for.
What does Paul say?
1Th 5:16 Rejoice evermore.
1Th 5:17 Pray without ceasing.
1Th 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
to feel joy or great delight - rejoice definition.
Joy or great delight.
That is what we the people of God need, Joy and Great delight in our God. The Everlasting Savior that died for us, that we live for. That Joy is what we need.
We need to praise our God for all the things He has done and will do.
Be the town crier in the Good and the bad, in the public and the private, tell everyone how good our God has been.
Get the church praising God, a service of testimony, singing, uplifting the Spirit and our fellow men and women.
The Joy of the Lord is a fantastic witness to all that we serve an awesome God.
It is time that all the people know our joy and the cause for it. It is time that they shared in our joy, that we share in their joy and sing and praise the God who is The God.
