Specific to God

 Have you ever read Exodus 30? I choose this one for 2 specific reasons. Exodus 30 is all about the bronze basin, God's incense, God's anointing oil and God's perfume.

Yes God specifically told the Children of Israel how to make an incense oil and perfume that is solely to be used for Him and His Work.

Why do I bring this up do you ask? Glad you asked.

Exo 30:37  And as for the perfume which thou shalt make, ye shall not make to yourselves according to the composition thereof: it shall be unto thee holy for the LORD. 

Exo 30:38  Whosoever shall make like unto that, to smell thereto, shall even be cut off from his people.

God is so jealous of the perfume He even says that if anyone makes it for anything or anyone or any use other than God's Work they shall be cut off.

If man makes God's perfume for man to enjoy and not for God that man is to be an outcast a pariah. 

God is a jealous God.

Have you ever thought how much more jealous He is of us being dedicated to Him? Not to the world but to Him and His Work?

In Exodus 28 God lays out the clothes of the priests, the uniforms and the vestries that they are to wear these clothes when they enter into the holy place or they will die.

 Exo 28:43  And they shall be upon Aaron, and upon his sons, when they come in unto the tabernacle of the congregation, or when they come near unto the altar to minister in the holy place; that they bear not iniquity, and die: it shall be a statute for ever unto him and his seed after him. 

Do we believe that God, who so specifically gave instructions to Israel for almost every facet of their lives, has so relaxed His standards that we can do whatever whenever and He will be happy with us?

Have we in the age of grace has so much free will that nothing matters to God and so we do not have to do a thing for Him?

I understand legalism, and pharisees but have we gone so far the other way to appease the world and avoid any appearance of legalism that we have lost the Standards of the Lord?

Have we so forgotten the sacrifice of our God, that we feel no need to sacrifice for Him?

Why is it the church is the one place we can not have standards? Yes sinners please just as you are come in, as for the Redeemed of God, know your are the Child of the Living God and you are representing Him!

Yes we need to relate to the world but do we really need to live as them, dress like them and talk them? If we do as they do, why do they need Christ?

We have let our standards go away and just as children need boundaries so to does the world. Now that we have let all standards go, the world has gone so far beyond them we can not get them back.

We look around and see what is going on in the world and we say God how can you allow this? Christian, How did we allow this?

1Pe 2:9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 

God has standards, He has a people, He is a jealous God. Perhaps it is time we refocus on Him.
