They spread His fame

Mat 9:27  And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

When Jesus departed after Jairus' daughter was raised from the deathbed,  after the woman with the issue of blood was healed, after His fame went throughout all the land, 2 blind men followed after Him crying out to be healed. The Messiah was to be called the Son of David, this is how they addressed Him, for even though they were blind, they saw.

Mat 9:28  And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

When He was come into the house. This means that Jesus had them follow Him, He did not immediately address their need, He had them follow, persistently calling, waiting, crying out. Why would He do this? Why would He make them wait? Could He not have healed them at the very moment they first asked? Of course He could, yet He didn't.

Not only did He make them wait but then He asked them to verbally confirm that He was able to do this, the healing they wanted. They had to state their faith, their belief, in Him. Again why?

Mat 9:29  Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

According to their faith it was done. this is why they had to follow, this is why they had to state they believed, their faith was a prerequisite for healing.

Mat 9:30  And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

Mat 9:31  But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

Now they were healed, they could see, and they quietly went home and told no one. Is that what happened? No they went and told everyone of the one who healed them. They spread abroad His name to anyone and everyone who would listen.

These men had their eyes opened here on earth and they told everyone they came into contact with. Their lives were made better for their remaining time on this earth, and they could not stop talking about it. They spread His fame in all of that country. No email, no tv, no radio, no car, no bicycle and they spread His fame through all that area.

Christ has died for you me and them, how many have we told that we have eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord?

There are so many points in this one little section:

A. Persistence pays off, when you do not get an answer keep asking.

B. Faith is the key, verbalizing in prayer faith believing that He can do it.

C. Jesus can heal but He does it in His time, not ours.

D. God heard the voice of the men, yet He made them keep asking, He gave them no answer until it was time to answer them. His timing, His way.

E. These men were so grateful they told ALL. Their gratitude was so boundless they spoke of Him, talked of Him, probably sang of Him, a lesson to us all I should think. Just like the lady at the well whose witness led to a whole city converted, so too did these men tell all of the One who changed their lives.

How many have you told of the One who gave you sight? The One who suffered and died that you, that they didn't have too? How many have you told of the Love that drew salvation's plan to earth, then  paid that cost that they too might be free from the penalty of sin?

Have we shown the same gratitude that these two did even though our healing is eternal, their need met was physical and short term?

Have you lost that sense of wonder? the sense of urgency? Has your joy and love stagnated and cooled even though He has not changed? Have you lost sight of what He did for you on the day you called out to Him? When you said Jesus Lord save me! Do you remember the joy He brought to you? Even today when you call out the name Jesus, the joy that comes, the full assurance of salvation we are reminded of.

It is time the Christian remembers that joy, and spreads it to all mankind, there is a need and you have the answer.

There is a Jesus who loves me, who loves them, who wants all to come to Him, Have you told them of Him? Of the Love that was made manifest usward that all might come to repentance, that all might escape the sin penalty in Hell.
