I am probably going to catch some flak for these thoughts but I have to put it out there.
Today on the radio I heard on a local channel 2 men talking and taking phone calls, a lady called in to ask a question, her question was "will God take care of my pets after the rapture".
I am certain that I am not the only one who looked at or heard that question and shook their head, at least I hope I am not.
Rev 3:14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Rev 3:15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Rev 3:18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Rev 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Quite frankly this is what I immediately thought of when I heard this on the radio. Is this the state of "Christianity" in the US today? More worried about who will feed the dog after the rapture than the lost souls of today that will be left behind on that day?
What does this say to the average Christian? To the average Christian's concern for the lost and dying?
What does this say to the average Christian and their own beliefs? As I posted on here a few weeks ago we do not believe what we say we do. Not if we are more concerned for our pets, our lunch after the service, our comfort.
Now you want to say that this was an isolated question, an isolated person. Well the very next questioned they were asked was "my son got arrested because he would not sign the ticket he got for speeding because it would require him to swear, and that is against the Bible in the OT."
Can we see the forest for the trees in America today?
I understand I am beating a dead horse, I also get that most reading this are not of the mindset I am writing about here.
Yet, and I made this point verbally the other day, during this pandemic, when people needed the church more than they ever have in their lives, we were not there. Where did they go? To whom did they turn?
Now as we are coming out of this pandemic are we goin g to return to our 3 hour a week availability? Or are we going to understand that for them to know we are here we must be here? Are they going to know we care because we sacrifice for them? You know by actually being at the church building where they might actually go to look for support and help.
There is just so much I want to say but again I think it is merely me banging my head against a brick wall.
So I guess we need to examine our own hearts, study our own availability, look into the mirror and ask ourselves DO WE CARE? is there a Hell and do we care they are going there?
