Last Wednesday night I was in the service and haltingly bringing a message to the church and out of the blue I said "do you know Him, and even more important - does He know you?".
After some thought that seems to be the most important question I have ever asked.
Everyone, from the pastor, to the layperson needs to ask themselves that very same question.
I mentioned introspection, looking in the mirror and truly asking yourself these questions.
There are several that do not know Him but claim to be of the Church (please note the capital letter on Church, for here I am not speaking of the building but of the body of Christ).
Does He know you? A valid question. For you can claim to know Him and none of us here on this earth can possibly contradict you. For we are human and do not know the heart.
God knows the heart and He knows those that are truly His.
So the question is, and it is vital Does He know you?
In the scriptures below I listed the scripture for a reference but not the complete account.
Ananias and Sapphira did not know Him even though they were in the revival and formation of the first church.
Act 5:1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
Act 5:2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
The seven sons of Sceva did not know Him even though they claimed to have power from Him.
Act 19:14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
Act 19:15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
Act 19:16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Jesus Himself talked of those that claimed to know Him and speak for Him yet never knew Him.
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
In that final judgement many will stand and say Lord I knew you, I prophesied for you, I spoke of you, I served you.
But many of those serve themselves and their own ends. They preach a perverted gospel, they are serving the god of this earth for they know not The God of All. For they have rejected that Christ is the Son of God.
They call Him a good man, a great teacher, and a prophet but they fail to call Him Jesus the Son of God, the One who takes away the sin of the world.
When you look in the mirror you must ask yourself Do I know Him? Does He know me?
Are you listening to His voice? The One who is the Way the Truth and the Life.
Are you speaking or teaching anything but that? Are you listening to someone who refuses to acknowledge that Christ is the Messiah, the Only Begotten virgin born Son of God who suffered and died on a Hill far away? Who rose again on the Third day?
If you can not teach that, if your pastor or teacher can not or will not teach that then you best look in the mirror and ask yourself whom am I serving.
If you know of Him but do not know Him and He is not aware of who you are then you have a choice to make.
Do you change the situation, get on your knees and get on knowing Him and introducing yourself?Calling on the name of Christ that you too might be saved?
or do you continue on in ignorance and in the dark because after all you are talking in His name right? You are spreading a good word, you are a good person and a hard worker?
Joh_5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
Believe in God and His Only Son. Nothing else will give eternal life free from death and Hell.
Nothing else can lift you out of the miry pit that all men are born into. Nothing else can cleanse you of your sins, restore your joy and give the peace that passeth all understanding.
If He does not know you and your name is not in the Lamb's Book of Life then there is nothing but pain misery and death in store for you.
You say that is awful harsh.
Yes it is, especially when it is something you can avoid if you but choose to.
He must know you. There is no way around that. God knows of you. in your sinful condition, but He will not acknowledge you until you ask Him too.
We speak so often of Free Will and this is the purest form of Free will. To either accept Him or reject Him. To accept or Reject His Sacrifice at Calvary for the sin of the World. To accept or reject the Eternal life so freely offered, bought with a great price so that you would not have to pay it.
Have you accepted that truth and called on the Name of Jesus that you too might be saved? or are you living in a shroud of darkness unable to see the light because you have not seen that you can do nothing on your own but must call on Him to save you?
Act 4:10 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
Act 4:11 This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
Act 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
If you do not hear this truth at least once a week from the pulpit of you church, if your pastor preacher or teacher does not at least once a week tell of The way to Heaven, if you can not remember a time when you called on Jesus, then you will want to re-examine what you are doing.
For your name can not be in the Lamb's Book of life unless you have called upon Him to save you and cleanse you of your sin. For He, Jesus. is The Lamb that takes away the sin of the world.
Rev 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Make sure you are not one of those working in your own power, in the name of the god of this world, But in the Power of the Lamb, In the Holy Name of Jesus. The One and Only way to Heaven.
Make sure your reservation is made for the seat at the table of the Lamb. For He is the only way to get there.
If your name is not in the Lamb's Book of Life He does not know you.
He will give you no chance after that, for your chance, your time is now.
