Proverbs

have you ever read the book of Proverbs daily as a devotional?

King Solomon and the other writers of the book have laid out wisdom, instruction, and just all around good advice some 3000 years ago. Now just because it was 3000 years ago doesn't mean it is not still valid.
so if you haven't read the book of Proverbs the question is why not?

God gave us this Bible to teach us, enrich us, guide us, educate us,  help us.

It covers work ethic, home life, finances, personality, the people you have around you, marriage, raising children, anger, money (which is slightly different than finances), and your health.
If you have been ignoring this book of the Bible then you have surely not grown in your Christian life as you should be. God lays it out for you in plain english for your edification.
Let me give you just a few to support what I am saying here.

Here we are given good examples of how to work, why to work and the consequences of Sloth.

Pro 6:6  Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
Pro 6:7  Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
Pro 6:8  Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
Pro 6:9  How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
Pro 6:10  Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
Pro 6:11  So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

Next is the consequences of a deceitful mind, a carnal outlook, and a sin filled heart.
Pro 6:12  A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
Pro 6:13  He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
Pro 6:14  Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
Pro 6:15  Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

The advice of a good man versus the wisdom of a fool
Pro 10:20  The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
Pro 10:21  The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

Keeping good people around you
Pro 13:20  He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

Governance
Pro 29:2  When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.

Vain and empty people
Pro 9:13  A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.
Pro 9:14  For she sitteth at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,
Pro 9:15  To call passengers who go right on their ways:
Pro 9:16  Whoso is simple, let him turn in hither: and as for him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
Pro 9:17  Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
Pro 9:18  But he knoweth not that the dead are there; and that her guests are in the depths of hell.

The Book of Proverbs when read daily will give you instruction, it will open your eyes. In fact when you read it you will walk through life and all of a sudden you will stop and say "oh that's what it means".

There is instruction in righteousness, there is education, there is Wisdom in the Proverbs.

God has laid it all out for you. Why you are not reading it is beyond me.
A good life, A happy life is yours for the taking if you but read, understand, and practice what is taught in these pages.
Ignore them at your own peril.
Now you may say that seems a bit dramatic, and yes it is.
But that makes it no less true.

Why would you turn away from something that will increase your knowledge? Why would you willingly not learn?
There is power in the Word, but only if you read it and access it.
There is wisdom in the Scriptures unless you never open them.
