The other day I was talking to a couple of people and I said that disposable cash is the biggest problem of today.
Today I must retract that statement.
The biggest problem of today is disposable time.
Now in our limited life time we really have no disposable time yet we spend so much time doing nothing that we have created disposable time.
We have video games, devices, phones, ipads, tablets, desktops, laptops, tv's, streaming services etc that we take no time for us.
We are so busy posting our opinions, posting our comments about someone else's opinion, looking for the next selfie shot, "getting away" in a video game that we have turned our brains into mush.
We used to blame commercials for the short attention span of people.
Now with memes and posts 30 seconds seems like a long time.
There was a writer a long time ago who wrote in a book that if a man could put his full attention on a subject for one minute then that man would be a success.
I fear that 1 minute today is far and above any man or woman can focus on one subject.
I don't mean in a conversation, or a gossip session.
I mean sitting alone, in the quiet of a room focus on one subject for one full minute.
Now that was just an intro not the purpose of this.
We have created disposable time. We fill it with things that do not matter, with entertainment and man made games of violence and searching and crafting and puzzles so that we do not have to focus on things that matter.
We fill our time with things that will distract from the real world by going into simulated worlds.
How stupid are we.
On the road to Emmaus 2 of the disciples were walking and Jesus came and drew near to them. They walked and talked, He expounded (preached) to them. They stopped for dinner and He went in with them. Then once they knew it was Him and He left:
Luk 24:32 And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
Their hearts burned within them as they heard His words.
When was the last time you sat and read the Bible and His words burned in your heart?
I remember a time when I read the Gospels straight through and I realized that Christ was just like me!
Sarcastic, opinionated, just, honest, and stood for right no matter who else was around.
He hated the religious class but loved the true of heart.
He hated the hypocritical pharisees and sadducees and scribes. He loved those who sought after God in the inner heart where no man could qualify them.
For no one knows your true inner heart but you and God. No one can group you or label you by your true inner heart but you and God.
I got alone with the gospels and discovered the real Jesus for myself.
The Jesus who wept for the people. The Jesus who welcomed all, but did not condone all. The Jesus who stood against the "religious". Who railed against the hypocrisy, the outer demonstrations of piety and the sophistry of their actions. The Jesus who spoke with friend, and enemy alike. The Jesus who said I won't condemn you, go and sin no more.
He was interested in the heart. He was interested in the intent. He was interested in changing lives for God. Not for fame, not for respect. not for you to say look at Him for He is good. Not for numbers, not for worldly wealth.
He was God and He cared about the people!
He is God and He cares about the people.
He is God and He wants time alone with you.
Think about that.
The God of the Universe, The Creator of all, The one who spoke all into existence wants your time.
You can not even get that from your local politician.
You can not get that from anyone unless you have something they want.
You will have no one who accepts you as you are as Jesus will. He will take you into His arms no matter what is going on in your life.
He does not tell you to change for Him.
He tells you no matter who you are, what you are doing, what you have or don't have to come unto Him and He will give you rest.
He doesn't ask anything of you. No twelve step program, No ceremony, no pomp and circumstance, no penance, no candles to light, just to call upon Him and you will be saved.
Just call upon His name and He will come to you, find you, and restore you if you so desire.
He will do it all, you just have to call upon Him.
There is no other man, woman or "god' that says I need nothing from you, I want nothing from you.
There is no "religion" that will accept you as you are, for who you are like Jesus does.
He says don't change for me, change with me.
He says I love you even though I know you, all the inner you that no one else knows, He knows and is there for you anyway.
He says I created you, I knew you from when you were in the womb, yet still I want you.
I know you when no one else is looking, I know you when you are alone in the quiet time, your actions, your thoughts, your heart. I know your depravity, I know your deviousness, I know your self-loathing, your low self esteem, but I want you no matter why what when where or how.
Who else will come to you, find you, and ask nothing?
Who else will speak to you as a friend when they do not need you or anything you have? When you are at your lowest, you are at the end of your rope? No One.
There is no disposable time. There is only precious time.
We waste time so we do not have to go into the inner thought, the inner heart.
We waste time so we do not have to know or understand ourselves.
Understanding ourselves leads us to the recognition that we are sad pitiful beings.
No one wants to admit that.
Because once we admit that we ,in and of ourselves, are pathetic then we must look to see how to change that. That the alcohol, drugs, and mindless way of life we have can not change that.
There is no one who can change that but Jesus.
I have no idea who will read this, or who is reading this.
But I want you to call out the name of Jesus and see the response you get. Call out to Him in honesty, a true desire to see Him, To hear Him.
Cry out to Him. Whether you are a "good" christian, or someone who doesn't know Him.
There is power in His name, a power to recognize the true Jesus, not the one portrayed in the media, or by the tv, or the feel good "preachers".
He is God and He wants you.
He is God and He wants you.
Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Today I must retract that statement.
