The Advent of Christ. The birth of the savior.
The Birth of Christ while extremely important, is not the whole reason He came to this earth.
Luk_2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
From Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Perhaps what we overlook is He did not come for us to venerate Him in the cradle. Again while it was extremely important for Him to be born, that was not the end game.
He came to die. He came to suffer and bleed. He came to live a sinless life, a life perfect to be the perfect sacrifice to provide that which we could not.
The Sacrifice. The Perfect Lamb of God.
Sinless, blameless, wholly submitted to the Will and purpose of God.
We treat Christmas as THE Holiday of Christians. The birth of Christ is the beginning, but not the main.
Easter should be the Superbowl of Christianity. It should be the day we get out and cheer, the day we raise the roof. That is the day we should be praising, rejoicing, gathering, celebrating. That should be the biggest day of our year, the Day of Resurrection. The Day that death was defeated.
We have had our sins forgiven and life anew given , due to the death burial and Resurrection.
Christmas is a good day, a big day.
But not THE day.
Try to remember as we get wrapped up in the Season, that Easter is the whole reason for the truest Season. The Passion of the Christ.
