God not listening to you? We all feel that way sometimes

Has there been a time in your life where you felt that God was just not listening? A time when it seems as if all the cares of the world are upon you and you can not get God to listen? Have you ever felt isolated alone and useless? That nothing was ever going to be right again? That God was just flat out ignoring you?

You are not alone.

There are several instances of people feeling the exact same way in the Bible. People who had seen mighty works, people who had felt the Spirit on them then felt alone, dejected, and abandoned.

Perhaps the most famous of these is Job, who had riches, family, fame and a sterling Reputation. He lost it all because he was righteous. He lost it all because satan tested him. No other reason.

Then there was Moses. He had been rescued by God as an infant, raised in Pharaoh's house as Pharaoh's son. Then in an act of rage he killed a man and ran and hid 40 years in the desert.

Then there was David, the slayer of Goliath. The next King of Israel. The writer of the Psalms. The man after God's own heart. Running and hiding in the wilderness, living with his enemies, acting as a madman to stay alive.

All these men of Faith were at one time or another destitute, feeling alone and abandoned by the God they championed.

The real trick here is to remember that we are all human. Whereas the God we worship is not. His timetable, His timeline is different than ours. However, we do have the Spirit working for us.

The best thing to remember here is that God is in control:

Romans 8:24-29KJV

24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?

25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

1.We have hope. We have the Word of God that tells us of the hope of things to come. As Paul so astutely says we hope for what we see not, the we must wait with patience for it. We know the end of the book.

2. We have an intercessor. The Spirit makes intercession for us in groanings we can not understand. We do not know what job we want/need. God does. We do not know what path is best for us, God does. His Spirit is sitting there interceding for us in things we are not even aware we need.

3. We have a promise that all things work together for good for those that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose. This means that we are called by God for a purpose, and all things that happen are part of a work in us by Him to bring about that which is His Will. This does not mean all I do will be blessed, but that all I do that is in His Will will work for good. Cancer can be used to further His Will and Work. God knows that a death while tragic to those of us left behind can be used for the Furtherance of His Will and His Work. While we are in the midst of these troubles we may not see why, we may not see the purpose and we may get down. God sees the true reason for these things.

When we get to heaven we are going to be amazed at some of the things we didn't know. That slow driver who made us late for work may have kept us out of an accident. That morning the car didn't start may have been a check to see how we handled it. That sickness may have been a chance for our testimony to shine through.

So when you are down, destitute, depressed thinking all is lost. Thinking God has left you, you are all alone in this big ole world, Remember His promise:

Hebrews 13:5-6KJV

5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

When all else fails, remember God is in charge, He has His Angels watching you. He will never let you go through it alone. He will not always tell us what He is doing, No matter how much we wish He would take us into His confidence.

In my opinion I believe He sometimes waits till the last minute to see how steadfast and true we will be. Our testimony matters to Him as much to those we see at church, at the store, and at home.

Keep that testimony in good standing. Stand tall even when you are not sure what is going on. You have entrusted God with your eternal Soul, you can trust Him with the rest.
