We do not have that someone stepping up. In fact we are losing to evolution, the LGBT community, indifference and the atheists. We have become a nation of Christians who have decided that we must take care of our house and let God do the rest.
When Jerry Falwell started his ministry in Lynchburg Va he took a map of the city and marked it as the great commission says and then started out to win his city systematically:
Acts 1:7-9
King James Version (KJV)
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight.
Now while we attend funerals and comfort the living left behind we also have to wonder what we are going to do to re-evangelize this nation? We may have succeeded in our corner but what about the rest? Are we going to the uttermost parts? Or are we content to let someone who is being paid do it? It is not only the pastor or the missionary who was tasked by Christ.
Christ has tasked us all with the need to spread the gospel. I am afraid that comfort, convenience and indifference have won here in the states. The social media craze has isolated us to our group , our clique, our own group thinkers. We fail to see the reality of the situation. That this nation as we know it with more wealth and information than any other is now a lost world. We have given ourselves over to our creature comforts, our petty little pet peeves, and our total lack of vision.
what do you see when walking do you see a lost man or woman on the final step before falling eternally into a lake of fire? Or do you see someone who might slow you down on your way to work? You have so much to do that his or her eternal fate is trivial? We are a nation that shall answer for this lack of concern and commitment.
We are in trouble. I am afraid that come judgment day we all shall have more to answer for than we can bear. Christ will not condemn those of us who are saved but we shall have to stand before our Savior and explain why He could come suffer and die but we couldn't be bothered to witness.
On the flip side of this we should start examining ourselves and see why we can't be bothered. Is it a lack of salvation? is it that our conscience is so seared that we do not care? Is it an indifference built in by our comfort and convenience?
I say to all of us who are sitting on the sidelines that the call has come. The coach wants us in the game. It is time for us to rise up and to make a difference. We may not be able to save our nation from the path of destruction, but we are not going to desert a sinking ship. Stand up, Tell a friend. We may not save all but are we going to go down without lifting a finger to tell our neighbors? We need to lead by example and then by word.
We are the chosen few. We are the called according to His name. If we don't standup then who will?
We are a Christian nation that has lost it's Christianity.
3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
6 But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitanes, which I also hate.
7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
"Doctrine of the Nicolaitans.-- The doctrine is now largely taught that the gospel of Christ has made the law of God of no effect; that by 'believing' we are released from the necessity of being doers of the Word. But this is the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which Christ so unsparingly condemned." E.G. White, SDA Bible Commentary, vol. 7, 957, and Signs of the Times, Jan 2. 1912.
We have become this type of church. We are all about ourselves and what we can get instead of what we can give. We have left our first love. We in this nation are now at fault for the state of this nation.
I am not saying we need to live in shacks and go the way of the ascetics, but we do need to thank God for His blessing and then pass the knowledge of that blessing and Salvation to all. Instead we have taken advantage of His Grace and then for the most part sat and rested on His Grace instead of passing it on.
I guess what I am trying to say is that I for one do not want to be ashamed when Christ comes back. I want to have my head held high knowing I followed His Will and His Word. When He comes I want to say Lord I did what you asked. But I am afraid most of us won't be able to do that.
We need to rectify this and fast. We need to be about the work of our Heavenly Father.
Please Lord help us to turn this around and to see the urgency of our situation.

Revelation 2
King James Version (KJV)
2 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:3 And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted.
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
